National Qira'at Competition

ISNA is organizing the National Qira’at Competition during its 48th Annual Convention from July 1st– July 4th, 2011 at the Rosemont Convention Center, Rosemont, IL.  Three top ranking participants will receive gifts, cash awards and certificates of recognition in the following categories:

Category I    Memorization       

• Level 1:  Memorization of the entire Glorious Qur’an
• Level 2:  Memorization of 15 consecutive parts (juz) from beginning or end of Qur’an
• Level 3:  Memorization of 5 consecutive parts (juz) from beginning or end of Qur’an
  

Category II    Reading           

• Level 1:  Reading of the entire Qur’an with proper Tajweed  (Advanced)
• Level 2:  Reading from Al-Qaeda An Nooraniyah. (Beginner)
  

Qualified Scholars of Tajweed Al-Qur’an will judge the recitations.
 
Age Requirements
The following age brackets will apply:

• Memorization – Age 16 and under.
• Reading, Level 1 – Age 11 and under.
• Reading, Level 2 – Age 7 and under.
  

Eligibility
The following rules for eligibility will be applied:

• Contestants are not allowed to re-compete in a category in which he/she has already won in a previous competition. They may participate in a higher category only.
• Contestants cannot change his/her category after submitting the application.
• Contestants may not be able to change the day/location of testing that he/she selected.
