Working Toward A Common Good
In keeping with Barack Obama’s personal commitment and the commitment of the Democratic Party to put faith in action, the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) and the Obama for America campaign today announced that the 2008 Democratic National Convention will recognize the tireless efforts of those in the faith community working toward the common good.
Muslims and Christian Leaders Meet to Talk God, Love and Peace
Do not ask, 'Is he or she one of us,'" says Seyyed Hossein Nasr, one of the world's most respected Muslim scholars, "but, 'Is he or she one of his?'"
Nasr meant one of God's, not one of man's. He was the final speaker at last week's Islam and Christianity conference at Yale, part of an effort to find common ground between the two religions. The meeting had roots in a letter, "A Common Word between Us and You," sent by Muslim to Christian leaders two years ago to point out how the two religions overlap.
Children of Abraham: Muslims and Jews in Conversation
In conjunction with the Union for Reform Judaism, the Islamic Society of North America has helped in creating a dialogue guide for mosques and synagogues to facilitate understanding between the two faith groups. This initiative hopes to provide a vital link between the two religions. The dialogue guide will be implemented communities where there is both a mosque and synagogue interested in participating.
