Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence Call-in Day and Letter to Congress

December 4, 2013-Dr. Syeed, a board member of Faiths United to Prevent Gun Violence, participated in the organization’s Interfaith Call-in Day to Prevent Gun Violence. The event took place on Wednesday, December 4 at the United Methodist Building in D.C. In light of the one-year anniversary of the December 14 tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, secular and faith groups gathered to tell our lawmakers that we support common sense measures to prevent gun violence in this country. In addition, fifty-four top national faith leaders signed a Faiths United Letter to Congress that went out the morning of December 9th. The letter encourages Members of Congress to support the bipartisan background checks legislation that a majority of the Senate voted for this past April.
