IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR HAJJ TRAVELERS
Asslamu Alaykum
The U.S. Transportation and Security Administration (TSA) has developed an advisory for its employees regarding Hajj travelers at US airports. ISNA has held several meetings with TSA officials to help them develop a positive understanding of the Hajj journey so that Muslim travelers are treated with respect and dignity. In addition, ISNA has encouraged Muslim airport chaplains to be involved in welcoming Hajj pilgrims.
Correspondingly, ISNA requests that Hajj pilgrims be cognizant of the standards established by TSA for the safety and security of all travelers. We encourage all to visit TSA’s website to review the the Security Administration’s requirements and extend full cooperation. One likely cause for concern would be the transporting of water from the Zamzam well in Mecca. Travelers returning from Hajj who wish to bring back water should pack it in their checked baggage if the container is larger than three ounces, pursuant to TSA's 3-1-1 liquids regulations.

The travel period this year for the Hajj will likely commence several days before the onset of the pilgrimage (approximately December 1, 2007) and end several days after its conclusion (approximately January 5, 2008).
