Washingtonian Magazine Recognizes ISNA Vice President Imam Mohamed Magid

News Alert

(Washington, DC – January 26, 2010) For the last 38 years, Washingtonian magazine has recognized a select group of D.C. area leaders for their great contributions to the betterment of their communities.  The Washingtonian is the premiere magazine informing the Washington D.C. region and the nation on the top leaders and businesses in the D.C. area.  This year, the collaborative interfaith efforts of Imam Mohamed Magid, ISNA Vice President and Imam of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS), and Rabbi Robert Nosanchuck, of the Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation, were recognized by Washingtonian with the prestigious Washingtonian Award.

The two, along with nine other outstanding community leaders, were honored on January 20th at a luncheon held in D.C. at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel, for their inspirational and innovative contributions to the Washington community.  Dr. Sayyid Syeed, National Director of the ISNA Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances, represented ISNA at the luncheon, along with the recipients’ family members and key D.C. area leaders to congratulate the remarkable efforts of Imam Magid, Rabbi Nosanchuck, and the nine others.

Both men accepted their awards with great humility and serve as outstanding examples to their religious communities and to all others.  The two leaders are long time friends who regularly address each other’s congregations, and work together to enhance the quality of life of their community members.
