Islamic Society of North America's History of Countering Extremism and Promoting Tolerance

(March 11, 2011) Yesterday, the House Committee on Homeland Security held a hearing, entitled, "The Extent of Radicalization in the American Muslim Community and that Community's Response." 

During the proceedings, it became clear to the leadership of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), that many Americans are simply not aware of the numerous and great initiatives taken by the Muslim American community, particularly in the past 10 years, to counter extremism and contribute to the security of our nation.

ISNA has been working since it's inception 48 years ago to promote peaceful communities.  We would like to provide our fellow citizens with a sample of what we have done most recently in the past few years as an organization, representing North American Muslims, to counter extremism in all forms and foster open dialogues and projects to promote tolerance and respect for all.
