ISNA PART OF NEW YORK TIMES INTERFAITH AD CAMPAIGN

'Weekend of Twinning' Highlights Children of Abrahamic Faiths

(Washington D.C., 11/11/08) The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) today is proud to announce the 'Weekend of Twinning' which ISNA has co-sponsored with the Foundation of Ethnic Understanding, the World Jewish Congress and the Muslim Public Affairs Council.  This is a groundbreaking program that will bring together 50 mosques and 50 synagogues and representing over 100,000 Muslims and Jews for the purpose of confronting Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.

On November 21 - 23, 2008, mosques and synagogues from New York to California and Florida and everywhere in between - will be "twinned" together and will host discussion panels, workgroups, forums and other joint events to discuss combating intolerance and hatred.

Most notably, in conjunction with the numerous events across the country, The Weekend of Twinning will coincide with two widely-seen public calls for an end to anti-Semitism and Islamophobia, a full-page advertisement in the New York Times and a broadcast Public Service Announcement on CNN.

In a statement, ISNA said: "ISNA is proud to be a member of the Weekend of Twinning campaign taking part around the United States and Canada. As the largest Muslim umbrella organization in North America, we are honored to 'twin' with our sister and brothers of our fellow Abrahamic faiths to promote the godly ideals of compassion and tolerance for all people."
