ISNA Calls on Muslim Physicians, and Other Professionals to Volunteer for Haiti
ACTION ALERT
(Plainfield, IN – January 21, 2010) The Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) calls on Muslim physicians and other professionals to volunteer for the relief efforts in Haiti.
One of ISNA’s constituent organizations, the Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA), has set up a mission to offer surgical and medical care to the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Already a team of 4 physicians is operating on the ground in Haiti and a second team will leave this weekend. However, the need is so great that IMANA is in the process of forming and mobilizing several more teams.
IMANA physicians will assist in treating the victims. All physicians and specialties are welcome to join this relief effort in Haiti.
Another partner of ISNA, Habitat for Humanity, is also seeking volunteers to help in the rebuilding process. Muslims who can volunteer are encouraged to sign up. Current volunteers will be utilized for providing temporary shelters but teams are also being formed to help in the rebuilding process once the relief effort moves into the next stage of recovery.
ISNA appeals to all Muslim physicians and other professionals to join us in this humanitarian mission. It is a moral and religious obligation of all Muslim Americans who can help to come to the aid of the less fortunate in Haiti at this time.
