State Department iftar for Muslim Leaders
STATE DEPARTMENT IFTAR
On September 15th 2009 the State Department sponsored an Iftar for Muslim leaders. The Iftar was held the same day as the swearing-in for Special Representative to Muslim Communities Farah Pandith. She will work on projects promoting cooperation between the United States and Muslim communities around the world. Ms. Pandith chose to take her oath on the Qur’an. She also served as master of ceremonies for the evening Iftar event where Secretary Clinton also spoke. Imam Mohamed Magid, Dr. Syeed, and Mohamed Elsanousi represented the ISNA at this historic event.
