Intern with ISNA in DC This Spring

Islamic Society of North America
Office of Interfaith and Community Alliances (IOICA)
Washington, D.C.
The Islamic Society of North America's (ISNA) Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances (IOICA) seeks part-time interns starting immediately for assistance with its interreligious and public policy initiatives. Such initiatives may include but are not limited to: the Fighting Poverty with Faith mobilization, the Muslim-Christian Initiative on Nuclear Weapons Danger, the 2nd National Baptist-Muslim Conference, and Shoulder-to-Shoulder: Standing with American Muslims; Upholding American Values. In addition, interns will provide research to equip our interfaith office with the means to contribute to faith-based discussion on a variety of public policy issues such as education, health care, and human rights. Interns receive key insight into the inner workings of building interreligious relationships and engaging with the federal government.
Through interfaith partnership and collaboration, the IOICA functions as a resource for national interfaith projects with various religious communities like the Union for Reform Judaism, National Council of Churches, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. These programs are organized on a national scale while seeking to create an impact on a local level. Additionally, these relationships allow ISNA to promote a positive image of Islam and Muslims to the nation’s political leaders, and IOICA functions as an outreach resource for those engaged in politics and government.
