MICHIGAN ISLAMIC ACADEMY (MIA) -SEEKING PRINCIPAL

• Responsible for the leadership of the school and the management of an accountability system that is consistent with the MIA mission statement.
• Establish and apply policies and procedures for the school staff, students, and parents.
• Responsible for the supervision and outcomes of all aspects of an Islamic educational program.
• Responsible for the development of a culture of community involvement specifically of parents in a Professional Learning Community framework.
• Assume a leadership role in establishing short and long term strategic plans for the school, school guiding documents including necessary standards and procedures, and ensuring their compliance by all staff and school population.
• Implement a school with Islamic culture that fosters the philosophy, goals and objectives of MIA.
• Provide instructional leadership that will ensure integration of the curriculum and foster cooperation between all curricular areas.
• Commit to developing a culture of trust and responsibility among students, teachers, staff and parents.
• Develop school plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, discipline and conduct of students as established in school guiding documents.
• Identify, provide, assign and coordinate professional growth opportunities for teachers during the year reflective of the Traditional School concepts.
• Work closely with the MIA board of directors in implementing the school’s strategic plans. Attend the monthly board meetings as well as other engagements as deemed necessary by the board.
  

• Holds at least a Masters degree in education
• Bi-Lingual in Arabic and English, preferred
• Practicing Muslim
• Proficiency in best practices of educational programs/curriculum
• Classroom teaching experience at various grade levels
• Strong management, administrative and communication skills
• Ability to initiate, manage and embrace change
• Ability to oversee the school's finances and development activities, a strong vision for the school
• Experience as a Principal (or Vice Principal) in an accredited Islamic School
• At least 5 years of experience in teaching
• Experience in education in an Islamic environment along with expertise in working with Muslims from different cultures and social backgrounds
• Experience running the day-to-day operations of a school
• Good understanding of the unique features and characteristics of K-12 concepts for various grades, with special focus on student growth and development as well as academic planning necessary for a successful high school career
• Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
