National Qira'at Competition

ISNA organizes a National Qira’at Competition during its Annual Convention every year. It encourages Muslim children to memorize and recite the Holy Quran in accordance with the rules of tajweed. At the ISNA convention in Columbus, Ohio a panel of judges from the Scholars of Tajweed Al-Qur’an evaluated the recitations from the participants who were 16 years of age or younger. The results were announced and the winners were recognized in a main session of the convention.

ISNA awarded nine prizes to the top three participants in three categories:

  • Category I (Memorized entire Qur’an)
    Ameenah Yoonas 1st Prize $1000.00
    Tahir Aziz 2nd Prize $600.00
    Mohammad T. Mohsin 3rd Prize $400.00
  • Category II (Memorized ½ the Qur’an)
    Mohammed F. Hasan 1st Prize $700.00
    Asjad Anas Ali 2nd Prize $500.00
    Zainab Younas 3rd Prize $300.00
  • Category III (Memorized 1/6 of Qur’an)
    Sanaa Yousuf 1st Prize $500.00
    Amir Aziz 2nd Prize $300.00
    Amina Aziz 3rd Prize $200.00
