Uniting to Protect
On November 30, 2007, Cardinal Theodore McCarrick joined Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi, Chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America, Islam's highest religious authority in North America, and other religious leaders to launch a national campaign to unite all Americans against terrorists.

On behalf of the Fiqh Council of North American Chairman Dr Muzammil H. Siddiqi presented the fatwa condemning terrorism. The Thanksgiving Proclamation was signed by Cardinal McCarrick, Rabbi Jack A. Luxemburg, Chief Rabbi, Temple Beth Ami in Rockville, Maryland, and Right Reverand Samuel T. Lloyd III, Dean of The National Cathedral. Rabbi Luxemburg and Right Reverand Lloyd led the more than 300 guests at the National Press Club luncheon in the reading of the Proclamation and invited everyone to join with them by providing their own endorsement of the effort.
