Ashraf M. Sufi
Ashraf Sufi was born in India and migrated to Pakistan as a child. He received his Medical Degree from Dow Medical College, affiliate of University of Karachi in 1968.
He married Dr.Qaiser Fatima in 1971 and moved to United States in 1971. He did his Internship in Christ Hospital, Jersey City, New Jersey and Residency in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Fellowship in 1977 from Wayne State University, Detroit and moved to Topeka the same year.
In Topeka, he was employed by old Santa Fe (Memorial) Hospital and went on his own medical practice in 1980. In 1998, he formed Kansas Medical Clinic with other physicians and at this time he is one of the employees of that group.
He was the president of Medical Staff of StormontVail Hospital in Topeka in 1995. He served as president of Shawnee County Medical Society in 1999.
He was the co-founder of Islamic Center of Topeka and served it as member, secretary, treasurer and president. At this time he is president of Islamic Association of North America (IMANA), one of the largest Muslim physician organizations in North America. He is on the board of Interfaith of Topeka for last many years and conducted many conferences and invited many known Muslim speakers to the area in this capacity.
He has been member of Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) since 1980 and has not missed any of its annual meetings wherever they were held. At this time he is on the board of ISNA Development Foundation.
His hobbies include Photography, Golfing, Boating and extensive research and reading on comparative religion.
He has two boys and a girl and proud grandparent of three grandsons and a granddaughter.
