Who is organizing the training?
ISNA Youth Programming & Services Department/ MYNA National
What age group will the training target?
12-18 years old youth
Can students who don’t attend Islamic Schools participate in the training?
Yes, so long as they are accompanied by teachers/educators who will be participating at the Education Forum.
What is the goal of the training?
Youth participating in the training will:
Be prepared to get involved in community service projects within their respected schools and communities
Connect with a national network of youth activists involved in community development projects around the country
What topics will the training address?
Leadership, why bother? Inspirational talks about the importance of being involved in community leadership.
Community mapping (How to identify and involve stakeholders including community leaders in a community service project)
Needs assessment (How to identify the needs of the community)
Developing vision and action plan of a community service project
Project management skills including:
Forming a Steering Committee
Planning Effective Service
Creating affective reflection
Logistics for the Day of Service
Recruiting Participants
Funding a Project
Media and Publicity
Field visit to IMAN, Inner-City Muslim Action Network
What format will the training have?
The training will consist of project-based interactive workshops. It will also include a visit to an existing community service project called IMAN, Inner-City Muslim Action Network and several youth activists from MYNA National and other youth organizations.
Who will be the trainers?
The trainers will include a selected group of facilitators from MYNA National Training Committee, Interfaith Youth Core and IMAN.
When will the program start/end?
The program will start on Friday 03/21/08 at 4:00 p.m. and will conclude on Sunday 03/23/08 at 9:30 a.m. The program on Sunday will include Fajr Prayer and a farewell breakfast.
Will educators participating in the Education Forum be responsible for their youth during the training?
MYNA National will be responsible for the youth registered in the Education Forum Youth Track since the time they check in with the program until they check out at the end of the program.
Will the youth have their own accommodation?
Schools/families are expected to arrange for their own youth accommodations. If a family/school would like MYNA National to help them identify other youth who might be interested in sharing a hotel room with their own youth, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Is there a registration fee?
There is a registration fee of $80/youth. The fee covers registration and 5 meals. (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast/lunch/dinner and Sunday breakfast)

How many youth will you take?
We encourage schools to send not more than 4 students (2brothers and 2 sisters).
The registration will be on first-come-first-served basis. We highly encourage you to reserve a spot ASAP to guarantee your student’s participation.
